Disney is now accepting applications for the 2019 Disney/ABC Writing Program.
The Disney/ABC writing program has been one of the most successful programs for writers in the entertainment & film industry. The 1 year long program is sanctioned by the Writers Guild of America, West.
About Disney’s Writing Program:
Writers who’re selected become employees of Disney-ABC television group also known as DATG & will be paid $961.54 weekly plus benefits. The 1-year program allows writers to earn $50,000 for the year. The program starts in February and ends in February of the following year.
The goal’s to develop writers to become Disney staff writers. However, it’s important to note that employment’s not guaranteed.
The program also provides writers work access to network executives, producers, & representatives. writers will also be able to attend various meetings & events designed to build relationships that can help build their TV writing career.
In the first month, writers participate in lessons to help prepare them to become better writers.
The program has launched the careers of many writers who went on to work on hit TV shows such as:
- Mad Men
- Once Upon a Time
- Chicago Fire
- Breaking Bad
- The Killing
The Disney ABC writing program, created in 1990, is based out of Los Angeles, CA and is one of the most recognized industry programs in the world.
The deadline is Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:59 pm PST.

*If you’re submitting up to 2 optional recommendations, you’ll receive a link to the required recommendation form in the confirmation email you receive after completing the online application. Be sure to submit EARLY to leave time for your recommenders to complete the form before the deadline.
IMPORTANT: This year’s application will be entirely online. Fax, email, or snail-mailed applications won’t be accepted.
