Project Summary
Amara is an English-language supernatural horror feature from director Roar Uthaug, reuniting him with screenwriter Espen Aukan following their Netflix collaboration on Troll. Currently in development, the project is set in Thailand and follows a group of international backpackers who find themselves trapped in a folkloric curse tied to an unsolved death. The film draws inspiration from Southeast Asian mythology and aims to deliver what Uthaug describes as an intense horror experience. Producers include Erika North and Nick North of Singapore-based Yeti Entertainment, alongside Claire Willats and Katie Davidson of UK-based Two Magpies Entertainment, with Jonathan Spink serving as executive producer. K-Movie Entertainment is handling international sales, marking the company's first English-language title. The project reunites Uthaug with producer Claire Willats, who previously greenlit Troll during her tenure at Netflix.
