In the late 1990s, eight-year-old Sasha and her Hungarian immigrant family move to Vancouver Island for a fresh start. But their new beginning is disrupted by Sasha’s oldest brother Jeremy, whose ongoing behavioral issues create turmoil. Eventually, Sasha’s mother seeks assistance from a social worker. Fast forward to the present day, Sasha, now an adult, answers the call and becomes the caseworker for her own family’s past.
