In 1942, social worker Irena Sendler gained entry to the Warsaw ghetto and witnessed the grim fate awaiting Jewish families. Risking her life, she began rescuing children, organizing a network of helpers to smuggle them out. Through daring tactics like hiding them in coffins and sewers, she saved thousands. Remarkably, she kept a secret list of their identities buried under an apple tree, hoping to reunite them with their families after the war, unaware that most would never be found.
