In the Bronx, Susan, a struggling single mother, dreams of becoming an artist while battling alcoholism, dealing with her jazz musician ex, an awful job, and a dark family history. When her precocious nine-year-old daughter Zoey faces a terrifying incident, Susan is torn between protecting her in her own way and escaping her violent past. “Montauk” is a redemption story set in this vibrant but misunderstood borough, highlighting the love between mother and daughter and the challenges faced by women balancing their children and their artistic aspirations.
