Kaufman Astoria Studios

Kaufman Astoria Studios (KAS) is one of New York City's most iconic and historic full-service production facilities, located in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens. Originally opened in 1920 as the home of Famous Players-Lasky (later Paramount Pictures), it was renovated and expanded by real estate developer George S. Kaufman in the 1980s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The campus offers over 500,000 square feet of production space including 11 sound stages, 325,000+ sq ft of production offices, and New York City's only studio backlot. As of early 2026, the studio is subject to foreclosure proceedings by Deutsche Bank following a default by owner Hackman Capital Partners on a $340 million acquisition loan.
