LAIKA, LLC (stylized as LAIKA) is an independent, privately held American stop-motion animation studio founded in 2005 in Hillsboro, Oregon, owned by Nike co-founder Phil Knight and led by his son Travis Knight as President & CEO. The studio is renowned for its award-winning feature animated films — including Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Missing Link — all of which received Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature. LAIKA is widely regarded as the world's foremost stop-motion animation studio, pioneering the use of 3D printing in character animation (recognized with a Scientific & Technology Oscar® in 2016), and has recently expanded into live-action films and series through its LA-based subsidiary, LAIKA Live Action.
