About

Playwrights Horizons is a not-for-profit Off-Broadway writer's theater located in New York City, dedicated to the development and production of new works by contemporary American playwrights, composers, and lyricists. Founded in 1971, the theater has produced over seven Pulitzer Prize-winning plays — including Sunday in the Park with George, Driving Miss Daisy, A Strange Loop, and Stereophonic — and has worked with over 375 writers across its 50+ year history. Under Artistic Director Adam Greenfield and Managing Director Casey York, the organization supports writers through productions on two stages, a New Works Lab, commissions, the Almanac literary magazine, and the affiliated Playwrights Horizons Theater School at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
