Urban Movie Channel (UMC)

Urban Movie Channel (UMC) was the first and largest subscription streaming service (SVOD) dedicated to Black film and television, founded in November 2014 by Robert L. Johnson (BET founder) through his company RLJ Entertainment. Operating under AMC Networks following its November 2018 acquisition of RLJ Entertainment, UMC featured original series, feature films, documentaries, stand-up comedy, stage plays, and reality programming for African American and urban audiences. On January 6, 2021, the service was rebranded as ALLBLK in the U.S., and by May 2022, the Canadian and Caribbean versions had transitioned to ALLWAYSBLK.
