Darren Lynn Bousman is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer born January 11, 1979, in Overland Park, Kansas, best known for his work in the horror genre. He directed Saw II (2005), Saw III (2006), Saw IV (2007), and Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021), becoming the first horror director to have his first three major Hollywood films open at #1. Beyond studio horror, he has helmed cult films including Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) and international productions such as The Cello (2023), while also pioneering immersive theater experiences including The Tension Experience. His most recent film, Twisted (formerly The Monster), was released via Paramount's Republic Pictures on digital VOD in February 2026.
