Derek Haas (born June 30, 1970, Dallas, TX) is an American screenwriter, television producer-showrunner, and novelist best known for co-creating NBC's long-running Chicago Fire franchise and its spinoffs Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and CBS's FBI: International for Wolf Entertainment. With writing partner Michael Brandt, he also co-wrote the feature films 2 Fast 2 Furious, 3:10 to Yuma, Wanted, and The Double, which collectively grossed over half a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. After departing Wolf Entertainment in 2023, he signed an exclusive overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, where he created, executive produced, and showran Countdown (Prime Video, June 2025), starring Jensen Ackles. He is also the author of six novels, including The Silver Bear thriller series.
