Kumail Ali Nanjiani is a Pakistani-American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer born May 2, 1978, in Karachi, Pakistan. He rose to prominence as Dinesh in HBO's Silicon Valley (2014โ€“2019) and co-wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed romantic comedy The Big Sick (2017), earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay alongside his wife Emily V. Gordon. He has since starred in Marvel's Eternals (2021) as Kingo, led Hulu's Welcome to Chippendales (2022) earning an Emmy nomination, and in 2024 co-founded Winter Coat Films with Gordon, which holds a first-look deal at Sony Pictures Television. In 2025โ€“2026 he expanded further: debuting on Broadway in Oh, Mary!, releasing a Hulu stand-up special Night Thoughts, appearing in Fallout Season 2, and announcing his feature directorial debut with the horror film Howl.
