Maximilian Leo (b. 1979, Cologne, Germany) is a film producer and director who co-founded augenschein Filmproduktion in 2008 alongside Jonas Katzenstein, where he currently serves as Co-CEO. The Cologne-based company has produced over 30 internationally acclaimed films, including festival prize-winners and English-language productions with A-list Hollywood talent such as 7500 (Amazon, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Stowaway (Netflix), The Assessment (starring Alicia Vikander), and the upcoming A24 release Mother Mary (dir. David Lowery, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel). Leo trained as a documentary filmmaker before studying feature film direction at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts (KHM, 2005–2009), and is an alumnus of Inside Pictures and Berlinale Talents; his debut feature My Brother's Keeper (2014) opened the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section at the Berlinale and earned a Best First Feature Award nomination.
