Olivia Newman is an American film director and screenwriter born in Hoboken, New Jersey, best known for directing the Netflix drama First Match (2018) and the Sony/Hello Sunshine feature Where the Crawdads Sing (2022), which grossed $144 million worldwide. She directed and co-executive produced the Apple TV+ limited series The Last Thing He Told Me (2023) and wrote and directed Netflix's Remarkably Bright Creatures (2026), starring Sally Field. An alumna of the Sundance Directors and Screenwriters Labs, she has won the SXSW Audience Award and the SXSW LUNA Gamechanger Award for Best Female Director of a first feature.
