Stephen Wallis is a Canadian writer-director-producer based in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario, widely recognized as one of Canada's most prolific independent filmmakers. He directed Burt Reynolds' final feature film, Defining Moments (2021), and his subsequent film The Martini Shot (2023), starring Matthew Modine, John Cleese, and Derek Jacobi, became the festival circuit's most-decorated film of 2024, winning 17 Best Picture awards and 11 Best Director awards worldwide. He is currently CEO of Indie Planet Streaming Service and runs his production banner Magic Door Films, with an extensive slate of new features in various stages of development, including Cut the Painter (co-written with John Cleese) and The Writer's Block. Mickey Rooney, with whom Wallis worked on A Christmas Too Many, reportedly called him the 'best writer' he'd ever worked with.
