A Secret

The screenplay follows Megan, a woman haunted by a recurring dream from childhood of climbing a winding staircase in a Scottish castle where her ancestor Rachel worked as a servant in the 1800s. On a trip to Scotland, Megan visits the castle from her dreams and experiences a strange sense of her ancestor's presence. She also grapples with guilt over a past abortion. Through researching her family history and visiting sites connected to Rachel, Megan learns to terms with her own mistakes, finding that there is forgiveness even for "the unforgivable sin." Ultimately, learning Rachel's story of illegitimate pregnancy and lost love helps Megan on her journey to self-forgiveness and healing. Shoot dates are June 23 - July 17, 2026 in Redlands, CA.
