Backseat Drivers

Backseat Drivers is writer-director Kestrin Pantera's indie comedy following a washed-up rockstar who relocates her family to a picturesque town and becomes consumed by competition at her child's elementary school science fair. The film marks the first feature from Pantera's Pantera Pictures banner, dedicated to female-driven stories. Pantera directs from her own script and stars alongside an ensemble that includes Sean Gunn, Natasha Halevi, Vanessa Chester, Alex Klein, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Tia Carrere, Jackie Tohn, David Wain, and The Sklar Brothers, with cameos from Tiffany Haddish, Sherry Cola, Paul James, and Aimee Mann. The project shot in Los Angeles in 2024 and recently held an invitation-only screening at Vidiots. Pantera's previous feature, Pretty Problems, won the SXSW Audience Award in 2022 and became a streaming hit on Hulu.
