Beatrice

Beatrice is a sci-fi drama currently in production in Estonia, Lithuania, and Italy. Directed by Vallo Toomla, whose debut Pretenders premiered at San Sebastian, the film stars Alma Pöysti, Valentina Bellè, and Priit Võigemast in an international cast. The screenplay by Toomla and Małgorzata Piłacińska adapts Siret Campbell's award-winning Estonian play, set in a near-future Europe reshaped by climate change. Production is being led by Stellar Film's Evelin Penttilä and Johanna Maria Tamm, with co-producers Apollo Film Productions (Estonia), Just a Moment (Lithuania), and Kino Produzioni (Italy). Shooting began in late April 2026 across Tallinn, Tartu, and Vilnius, with wrap scheduled for early June. The multilingual production is spoken in English, Estonian, Finnish, and Italian, with an Estonian theatrical release planned for February 2028.
