Coolie

In the mid-1800s, when the African slave trade was banned in the Americas, Cuban plantation owners began importing indentured Chinese laborers called "coolies." Wong, a young woman from southern China, marries a political exile working on a Cuban sugarcane plantation. Together with other laborers and African slaves, they strive for freedom. However, the plantation owner's spurned wife and her ex-lover conspire against them, potentially impacting Cuba's destiny.
