Project Summary

Dragon Slayers is a six-part BBC drama moving into pre-production, with principal photography scheduled to begin in Manchester this September. Matthew Rhys leads the cast as Sir Harry Evans, the former Sunday Times editor whose Insight team became synonymous with fearless investigative journalism in the 1970s. Written by BAFTA winner Peter Bowker and directed by Al Mackay, the series is produced by AC Chapter One and Universal International Studios for BBC One and iPlayer. The production examines how Evans and his team took on powerful corporations, the legal establishment, and government itself, fighting for Thalidomide victims and exposing major scandals. Executive producers include Patrick Spence, Joe Williams, and Rhys himself, with Natasha Romaniuk producing and Shaheen Baig handling casting. The series comprises one 90-minute episode and five 60-minute episodes, drawing on research and interviews with those who knew Evans, including his widow, journalist Tina Brown.
