Project Summary
El Sobrino is a Netflix dramedy from Argentine writer-director Damián Szifron, reuniting him with K&S Films after the global success of Wild Tales. The film stars Leonardo Sbaraglia as an internationally celebrated pianist whose world is upended when his young nephew's musical gifts challenge his supremacy. Rita Cortese, Luisana Lopilato, and Valeria Lois round out the ensemble, alongside newcomer Luan Adler Fuks and special appearances by Vincent Macaigne and legendary Italian actor Franco Nero. Principal photography began April 27, 2026 in Ramos Mejía, Buenos Aires Province, with the production following its characters on a pilgrimage through Buenos Aires, Hamburg, London, and New York. Hugo Sigman, Matías Mosteirin, and Leticia Cristi produce, with Julián Apezteguía as director of photography. Szifron describes the project as an exploration of art, creation, family ties, and the passage of time, delivered with his signature blend of humor and emotional depth.
