Project Summary

Judge Dredd is returning to the big screen with director Taika Waititi attached to helm a new feature film adaptation of the British comic character. Drew Pearce, known for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and The Fall Guy, is writing the screenplay. The project is being developed by Dredd rights holders Chris Kingsley, Jason Kingsley, and Ben Smith of Rebellion Developments, alongside producers Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, Jeremy Platt, Natalie Viscuso, and Pearce. The film is currently being shopped to studios across Hollywood as one of the hottest packages in development. Sources indicate the pitch takes inspiration more directly from the 2000 AD comics than previous screen adaptations, positioning it as a fun sci-fi blockbuster with satirical undertones that could launch an expanded Dredd universe across films and television. No studio, cast, or production timeline has been announced yet.
