La Reina del Sur returns for its fourth season with Kate del Castillo reprising her role as Teresa Mendoza, one of Spanish-language television's most iconic characters. Production has begun on the new season, with Telemundo Studios producing for both Telemundo and Netflix as the global streaming partner. The story picks up years after Teresa built a new life as a restaurateur in Madrid, living peacefully with her daughter Sofía and ally Oleg—until a personal tragedy pulls her back into the dangerous world of international drug trafficking. The series is written by Pablo Ilanés and directed by Javier Patrón Fox, Carlos Villegas, and Claudia Pedraza, with Javier Pons serving as executive producer. The cast includes returning ensemble members Ágata Clares, Alejandro Calva, Isabella Sierra, and Patricia Reyes Spíndola, alongside new addition Daniel Grao. Based on Arturo Pérez-Reverte's novel, the Super Series helped define Telemundo's premium scripted strategy and is scheduled to premiere during the 2026-27 season.
