Later the War

Later the War marks Charlie Kaufman's return to directing after a 2020 hiatus, with Channing Tatum starring as Peekman, a successful actor-director questioning his artistic legitimacy. Tessa Thompson plays his wife and frequent collaborator Kiki, with Patsy Ferran also in the cast. The project faced a significant setback when production shut down in Serbia in May 2025 after a Polish producer withdrew, but has since been rebooted with new financing. Waypoint Entertainment producers Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum are producing alongside Sarah Green. The Veterans, headed by Vincent Maraval and Kim Fox, is handling international sales. Adapted from Iddo Gefen's short story "Debby's Dream House," the film blends present-day reality with nested films and dreamscapes in signature Kaufman fashion. Production is set to shoot in Cyprus in 2027, with the project now in active pre-production as the team locks deals and prepares for the overseas shoot.
