Maitreya
Project Summary
Maitreya is an independent comedy currently in pre-production from Academy Award-winning outfit Caviar. The film follows Maitreya, played by Pamela Anderson, a rising influencer in the New Age healing community who receives word that her father is dying just as she's preparing for a major conference in India. Rather than cancel her trip, she decides to bring her entire family along—including her mother Barbara, played by rock icon Debbie Harry—and put her healing theories to the test while covertly gathering material for her next book. Emmy-nominee Jonathan Krisel, who co-created Portlandia and Baskets, will direct from a script by BAFTA-nominee Samuel D. Hunter, the acclaimed playwright behind The Whale. Caviar's team of Bert Hamelinck, Michael Sagol, Allison Hironaka, and Danica Radovanov are producing. Fortitude International is launching international sales at the Cannes market, with CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group handling North America. Production is scheduled to begin late in 2026.
