Monsanto
Project Summary
Monsanto is preparing to shoot in Bavaria, Germany for Netflix, with director John Lee Hancock leading the courtroom drama. Jonathan Bailey takes on the role of attorney Brent Wisner, replacing the previously attached Glen Powell due to scheduling conflicts. Laura Dern plays Dr. Melinda Rogers, Monsanto's chief toxicologist, with Anthony Mackie as Dewayne 'Lee' Johnson, the groundskeeper whose cancer diagnosis sparked the legal battle. Hancock co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Wisner, Alexandra Duparc, and Ned Benson. Munich-based KrautPack Entertainment is producing alongside Los Angeles-based Onda Entertainment, with HyperObject Industries' Adam McKay and Kevin Messick among the producers. The production has secured €500,000 in funding from Bavaria's regional film fund FFF Bayern, and the FFF Film Commission has been supporting the crew's search for shooting locations throughout the region. John Schwartzman is attached as cinematographer. Production is actively gearing up with location scouting underway in Bavaria as of late April 2026.
