Project Summary

Paradise Lost is a feature film adaptation of John Milton's 1667 epic poem, with Roger Avary attached to write and direct for Ex Machina Studios. The project adapts the biblical story of Lucifer's rebellion against God, his fall into Hell, and his subsequent temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Avary, who won an Academy Award for co-writing Pulp Fiction, previously tackled another epic poem with Beowulf and describes this as a more faithful approach to the source material. Ex Machina Studios co-founder Marco Weber is producing, with production designer Kirk Petruccelli serving as executive producer. The production will be based in Los Angeles using AI-assisted filmmaking techniques to realize the epic scale on an independent budget. Casting has not yet been announced, and no production start date has been set.
