Rush Hour 4 enters pre-production amid significant delays and unresolved contract negotiations. The action-comedy sequel reunites franchise stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter, with Brett Ratner returning to direct. Paramount is handling distribution while Warner Bros. retains rights-holder status, with producers Arthur Sarkissian and Tarak Ben Ammar lining up financing. The project, greenlit in November 2025, was originally targeting a spring or summer 2026 shoot across China, Africa, and Saudi Arabia, but filming has been pushed to September 2026 at the earliest. The production faces a planned budget of $115-120 million, though neither Tucker nor Chan has signed deals after reportedly rejecting initial offers of $8 million each—significantly below the roughly $20 million each earned for Rush Hour 3. Without pay-or-play agreements in place, the project's financing remains uncertain, with much of the capital reportedly coming from Middle Eastern investors.
