Task (Season 2)

Task is heading back into production for its second season, with HBO continuing its crime-drama partnership with creator Brad Ingelsby. Mark Ruffalo returns as FBI agent Tom Brandis, now leading a new task force in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia. The sophomore season adds Mahershala Ali as Eddie Barnes, a seasoned DEA agent whose team comes into conflict with Brandis's unit. The production will film entirely in southeastern Pennsylvania, with principal photography beginning in early July 2026 in Philadelphia and Delaware County. Ingelsby serves as creator, writer, and showrunner, with Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield returning to direct. Production companies wiip and Public Record are producing alongside HBO.
