Project Summary

The Brigands of Rattlecreek is a Western revenge thriller from director Park Chan-wook, based on the screenplay by S. Craig Zahler that appeared on the 2006 Black List. The film stars Matthew McConaughey as Sheriff Bill Adams, whose wife and townspeople are massacred by a gang led by Henry Lee, played by Austin Butler. Adams teams up with Dr. Abraham Weiss, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, to hunt down the bandits. Tang Wei also stars, reuniting with Park after Decision to Leave. Park has revised Zahler's original script and will produce through Moho Film alongside Bradley Fischer. The project carries a reported budget north of $60 million and is being introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival market through Patrick Wachsberger's Legendary-backed sales label 193. Executive producers include Jisun Back, Mike Medavoy, and Georgia Kacandes. The package represents one of the most significant independent film announcements heading into Cannes 2026, with financing and distribution deals still to be secured.
