The Death of Sherlock Holmes
Project Summary
The Death of Sherlock Holmes is currently in production as a Swiss-German-Belgian co-production for Sky, with a 2027 premiere planned. Created by Claudia Bluemhuber, André Küttel, and Pierre Monnard, the series stars Rafe Spall as an amnesiac stranger discovered barely alive in an icy Alpine stream by local woman Alma and her son Franz. When the village doctor is murdered and suspicion falls on the boy, the stranger becomes his only hope—though he has no memory of who he is, flashes of deductive brilliance suggest a hidden past. Production companies Silver Reel, Sky Switzerland, SRF, ARD Degeto, and Umedia are backing the project, with Bluemhuber and Monnard directing and serving as showrunners. Set against the Swiss Alps, the series imagines what Arthur Conan Doyle famously left untold in the Holmes canon. Sky will broadcast exclusively in the UK and Ireland, with distribution across Switzerland and Germany.
