Project Summary

The Girl Who Was Plugged In marks Jennifer Kent's return to feature filmmaking after her acclaimed horror work on The Babadook and The Nightingale. The sci-fi adaptation of James Tiptree Jr.' s Hugo Award-winning 1973 novella stars Sophie Thatcher in dual lead roles—both as P. Burke, a disfigured young woman, and Delphi, the flawless lab-grown body she's hired to remotely operate for a mega-corporation's marketing schemes. Kent wrote the screenplay herself and is producing alongside Cody Greenwood for Rush Films, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger for Range Media Partners, Brandon Millan and Sam Wasson for Felix Farmer Productions, and Hualien Media International. Goodfellas is handling international sales, with CAA Media Finance and Range Select co-repping U. S. rights. Production is set to begin mid-November 2026 in Australia, with the project now actively assembling its crew and finalizing pre-production.
