The Housekeeper

The Housekeeper has wrapped principal photography after filming in Cornwall, Knebworth House, and Leavesden Studios. Directed by Richard Eyre and written by Rose Tremain (adapting her own short story and forthcoming novel), the romantic drama stars Caitríona Balfe as Danni, a housekeeper at Manderville Hall who becomes entangled in a clandestine affair with the young writer Daphne du Maurier, played by Emma Laird. Anthony Hopkins stars as the widowed Lord Grenville-Whithers, with Helena Bonham Carter as his calculating niece Adelaide. The project is produced by Artemis Films, Embankment, and Night Train Media, with additional financing from Head Gear Films, M2 Mediapost, FireFrame Studios, and Screen Cornwall. Embankment handles global sales alongside CAA Media Finance for U. S. rights. The film explores desire, power, and secrecy while reimagining the emotional origins of one of literature's most enduring gothic classics.
