Thunder Road

Thunder Road is heading into production this summer as AMC's first scripted NASCAR drama series. Dennis Quaid stars as Duane Whitlock, a racing legend and patriarch fighting to preserve his family's stock car empire built from moonshine runs and dirt tracks. Created by John Fusco with Taylor Elmore as showrunner, the series is produced in partnership with NASCAR—marking the racing organization's first long-form drama collaboration. The production team includes executive producers Cliff Roberts, Mark L. Smith, and NASCAR's Tim Clark and John Dahl. Production is expected to begin summer 2026, with the series set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2027.
