Untitled Black Rodeo Drama

Starz has greenlit an untitled family drama exploring the world of Black rodeo in Southeast Texas. Kirk A. Moore, showrunner of Demascus and writer on American Crime, will lead the eight-episode series as showrunner and executive producer. The project marks Starz's second wholly owned series following its May 2025 separation from Lionsgate, underscoring the network's commitment to owning its original programming and targeting underrepresented audiences. Producing partners include Mark Johnson and Myki Bajaj of Gran Via Productions—Johnson's company behind Breaking Bad and Interview with the Vampire—alongside Tony Hernandez, Elise Henderson, and Lilly Burns of Counterpart Studios. The series centers on three siblings navigating family legacy, personal ambition, and the deep cultural significance of rodeo in their Southeast Texas community. Starz executives Giovanna Desselle and Christina Jokanovich are overseeing the project. Production timelines and casting have not yet been announced, though the greenlight positions the series for active pre-production development.
