Untitled Daniels Sci-Fi Comedy
Project Summary
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert—the Oscar-winning duo known collectively as the Daniels—are gearing up for their follow-up to Everything Everywhere All at Once with an ambitious $150 million sci-fi action comedy at Universal Pictures. The untitled project centers on a group of five teenagers and features dual timelines spanning the 1980s and present day, with themes involving time travel, climate change, and a potential superhero angle. Matt Damon is in talks to play the father of one of the teen protagonists in the '80s timeline, joining what Kwan has described as a fun, existential sci-fi adventure with a big heart. The project is being produced through the Daniels' Playgrounds banner with longtime partner Jonathan Wang under their overall deal with Universal. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in Los Angeles, supported by a California tax credit, with the film targeting a November 19, 2027 theatrical release.
