Project Summary

HBO Documentary Films is currently in production on a multi-part documentary series examining the Zizians, a group of young technologists who drew national attention in 2025 after law enforcement connected members to violent crimes across the country. Directed by Matthew Galkin, known for One Night in Idaho, with Jenna M. Kelly serving as showrunner, the series is produced by XTR in collaboration with Rolling Stone Films and based on investigative reporting by Tessa Stuart. The project will trace the group's origins and evolution, exploring how their unusual convergence of AI safety concerns and radical veganism attracted scrutiny for alleged violence. Executive producers include Justin Lacob, Matthew Cherchio, and Bryn Mooser for XTR, with Alexandra Dale and Tessa Stuart for Rolling Stone Films, alongside Zackary Drucker. The series is set to debut on HBO and stream on HBO Max, with a premiere date to be announced.
