Sanai Pictures

Sanai Pictures is a Seoul-based South Korean film production company founded in 2012 by producer Han Jae-duk, whose name derives from the Korean word for 'man,' reflecting its focus on action noir and crime films aimed at a male audience. The studio is known for commercially and critically acclaimed titles including New World (2013), A Violent Prosecutor (2015), Asura: The City of Madness (2016), and The Spy Gone North (2018), the latter two premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2019, a majority stake in Sanai Pictures was acquired by Kakao M (now Kakao Entertainment), making it a subsidiary of the South Korean tech and entertainment giant Kakao Corp. More recently, the studio has expanded into television drama production, earning acclaim for the Disney+ series The Worst of Evil (2023).
